CLIFTON Bishop Serratelli has set Oct. 21, 2017 as the Paterson Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
Last time, in October 2014, more than 2,400 pilgrims journeyed from around the Diocese to Washington in more than 50 buses to participate in a number of spiritual activities. The highly successful day included the Diocesan Mass with Bishop Serratelli as the main celebrant, with nearly 40 priests as concelebrants; reconciliation; talks at different saint shrines; the Rosary, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
The pilgrimage next year will include an overnight option the day before with visits to local shrines enroute to Washington.
Information will be distributed through the parishes, and, in particular, the parish coordinators who will be assigned to serve as a liaison to the pilgrimage office.
“I look forward with great interest to pilgrimage 2017 as an opportunity for the faithful of the Diocese to engage the faith as one body from the Diocese in our nation’s largest Church. It is the goal to meet our 2014 numbers, if not exceed them in order to give the faithful the great opportunity to enhance their faith through pilgrimage,” said Father Michael Rodak, diocesan pilgrimage director and pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in West Milford.
